In 2001, my passion for craft beers led me to leave a career in the financial sector to found Almogàver. I am now in charge of coordinating our efforts to ensure that Almogàver remains an opportunity for innovation and quality.George

The idea of Almogàver was born in 2001. The brewing scene in our house was, at the time, bleak. A black-and-white landscape flooded by monolithic-style industrial beer, dominated by giant companies, with million-dollar advertising campaigns where the product is of relative, secondary importance… These are times where there is widespread and almost absolute ignorance about what beer really is in our home.
A visit to a microbrewery in the USA will break our plans… we have to take this home!

A few years will pass until the Almogàver project is put on the table. From 2005 to 2009 are years of transition during which the strategy and the various business plans are drawn up. They were years of long meetings and above all many doubts until in 2009 we decided to go to the market starting as nomadic brewers, but with a very clear idea of the brewery we want to set up. Without a penny in our pocket, but with passion, conviction, non-conformism and the firm will to free our house from the beer hijacking to which it is subjected, we decided to launch the project and Almogàver was born…, another beer is possible!

At the end of 2015, after six years as nomadic brewers rowing against the tide, we got the necessary funding to build the factory we had always imagined and all the work done until then crystallized. The year 2016 will be a frenetic year, of work against the clock, the works in a ship of almost 2000 m², in the city of Barcelona, will go full speed to have everything completed down to the smallest detail by the time everything arrives the equipment; brewhouse, fermenters, keg and bottling lines, etc., on November 22, 2016 we hit the ‘ON’ button and put everything to the test.
It culminates one of the great milestones

A few months before the construction of the factory began, in February of the same year, during the celebration of BeerAttraction, in Rimini (Italy), a meeting will take place that will end up being fundamental for our recent history; during the celebration of the show, between beer and beer, Víctor and Francesco get to know each other and after a few beers and a little chat Francesco will decide to pack his bags to leave for Barcelona and join Almogàver.
Almogàver is the project that Francesco was looking for, and Francesco the brewer that Almogàver needed!

Eight years and three months after imagining this moment every day, the dream becomes reality, and we finally bottle the first beer brewed in our own factory.
